Action Needed Now at City, County, State Levels to Stabilize Families, Small Businesses in Crisis

Here is what we can all do to ensure that government on every level is responding to the urgent needs of our communities.


If we take bold action now we can ensure that everyone in our community gets the care they need, and that families and local businesses who are already struggling don't lose their homes and businesses because of this unprecedented public health crisis.


The following constructive proposals for what Jackson County can do, and what we need the County to do right now, have emerged from the community so far.

 

City Action Needed Now


City Councils across our region are already working hard because they are on the front lines responding to the COVID-19 outbreak in our communities. There is a lot that local government can do, and should put in place right away to make sure there are safeguards for those who are already struggling the most: unhoused people, low-income folks, and elders. This is crucial right now for all of us because we know that each of our health depends on community health, including those at highest risk.

County Action Needed Now


If we are going to have a shot at stabilizing Jackson County’s families and local economy during the Coronavirus crisis we cannot afford to wait for Federal or State government to act. Immediate action is crucial for all of us because we know that our health as individuals depends on our community’s health, including the health of those at highest risk.


Many of the things that our community needs right now must happen at the County level. We need the Jackson County Commissioners to act immediately to make sure there are safeguards for those who are already struggling the most during this crisis: unhoused people, low-income folks, families losing their jobs, elders on fixed incomes, and struggling small businesses.


The following constructive proposals for what Jackson County can do, and what we need the County to do right now, have emerged from the community so far.

State Action Needed Now


The Rogue Action Center is proud to join partners from across the state to call on the Governor and Oregon Legislative Leaders to take bold action now. We helped to co-draft a letter outlining what Oregonians need the state to do.
